Grace Chapel of Indio

Grace Chapel of Indio made their first visit to GCH this past weekend to work on the Baby Home. They came to finish the stucco paper and start the installation of our donated insulation. The stucco paper is about 95% complete and the team was able to get about 80% of the insulation installed. Also, we finished the interior plumbing. Both the water and drain systems were tested and all leaks were fixed. We also have a couple of faithful brothers from our church who will be working every Tuesday at the Baby Home in an effort to keep things moving in between teams. This week we will begin on the septic system.

CALL TO ACTION

PRAY - Pray for the arrival of our sprinkler system. The system design and materials are being donated however, we don’t have a firm delivery date. We cannot start the drywall installation until the sprinkler system is installed.

Horizon Weekend Team

This weekend a team from Horizon Christian Fellowship came and put in two full days of work on the Baby Home. They continued the stucco paper installation, finished all of the remaining structural detail work and finished the drains for all the upstairs plumbing. In addition, all of the donated insulation was delivered and we will begin installing it this week.

CALL TO ACTION

PRAY - As work continues, pray that we will complete all of the plumbing and electrical work this week. Pray for the availability and willingness of professional drywall and stucco crews who can come and handle these two important tasks.

Faithful Servants

Over the past few months a brother from Horizon Christian Fellowship has taken on the project of waterproofing our walkway and second floor patio. Eric, a general contractor, spent several weeks researching the best solution. After several checks and re-checks he made the call and began the process of applying a three part polyurethane coating to our deck and walkway. Sunshine Supply Company donated all of the materials. Eric and a few guys from his crew have been down four times in the last week to apply the coating. It has blessed me tremendously to see these guys drive for an hour to get here after a full day on the job, work two more hours and then make the two hour drive back across the border and home.

CALL TO ACTION

Pray - Pray for these guys as they spend time away from their families doing God’s work. Pray for Eric’s crew, that they would have an encounter with their creator that would change them forever. Pray that God would protect them and bless them beyond what they can imagine.

Labor Day Weekend

We had a three-day work team from Westgate Church in San Jose here this weekend. We got all of the roof panels and about 2/3 of the stucco paper installed. Inside the building, the entire second floor electrical work is just about finished. The building is now completely prewired for the fire alarm system. We are amazed at God’s continued faithfulness to provide for this project.

CALL TO ACTION

PRAY - Pray for God’s continued favor on this project. Pray for His protection and blessing for those who have answered the call to support it.

Weekend Warriors

We had a great work day with two teams of workers working all over the baby home. The front doors were hung, the walkway railing got its final coat of paint,  the stucco paper was started,  the first layer of soundproofing was completed, and most of the electrical in the upstairs was finished.  We are so thankful for everyone who sacrificed their Saturday to help continue the work on Grace Babies’ Home.

CALL TO ACTION

PRAY - Pray for the logistics of bringing the drywall and insulation across the border and for the teams that will install them.  Pray for safety as we continue the roof installation this week.

More Progress

We have had several teams here this month continuing with various projects. The teams helped out with digging and painting as well as installing soundproofing materials between the first and second floors. Saturday, several guys came down to begin work on the electrical wiring. Though they had never met before, they worked enthusiastically side-by-side. They finished the day as friends, sharing a common passion - our Lord Jesus and His work here at Grace Babies’ Home.
Also, a friend and brother in the Lord, has started coming every morning to work on the plumbing. He arrives at five in the morning and works for a few hours before leaving for his regular job.

CALL TO ACTION

PRAY - We have several upcoming teams scheduled to continue God’s work at Grace Babies’ Home. Pray for productivity and protection while they serve.

Youth From Oklahoma and Dear Friends

Youth from Church of Battlecreek came from Oklahoma to love on our kids at GCH and work on the Baby Home for a week.  In their youth directors own words they came to do “grubby, sweaty, grunt work that no one else wants to do”.  True to their intentions they spent their mornings digging ditches. They worked on a ditch for our septic system and one along our neighbor’s wall that needs to be sealed. They also finished priming the walkway. After lunch everyday, the team organized activities with our children including a three-day soccer tournament.

Saturday a group of personal, faithful friends, came from San Diego to help complete some of the structural connections from the roof to the building which meant crawling into tight spaces and driving nails with a hand held nail gun. Hot and sweaty, they proved once again how good of friends they really are.

CALL TO ACTION

PRAY Pray that God continues to send individuals with skill-sets that meet our immediate needs (plumbers & electricians right now).Pray for Chuck our roofer. He still has not been able to make it back down to finish the roof. Pray that God would open his schedule. Pray that God would open his heart to the love of Jesus. Pray for physical and spiritual protection around the building, the volunteers working on the building, and around the entire project.
